The condition of jazz great Etta James has gone downhill once again.
Etta was hospitalized on Wednesday after suffering from breathing difficulties.
The 73-year-old singer was recently diagnosed as terminal from leukemia and also suffers from dementia and a kidney condition. Her manager, Lupe De Leon, said that she had her family at her bedside at an undisclosed southern California hospital. He also stated that James was in "pretty bad shape" and it was not known if she would be able to be released from the medical facility. "They took her to the hospital. She was having trouble breathing, so they intubated her. She is on a breathing machine and is resting."
CNN has reported that the current condition was brought on by sepsis from a urinary tract infection. James has been hospitalized a number of times over the last couple of years for the same ailment.
James' physician, Dr. Elaine James (no relation), said earlier this week that the singer's leukemia was now terminal and was asking for prayers from her friends and fans.
