R&B great Etta James is said to be terminally ill with the leukemia that she has been fighting for some time.
James' live-in doctor, Dr. Elaine James (no relation), told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that the singer's illness was declared incurable two weeks ago by a number of specialists in the field. Her full physical condition was not disclosed but her communications is now said to be limited to "uh-huhs" and "no's." Along with the leukemia, James also suffers from dementia, kidney disease and other afflictions.
Dr. James stated "I am Southern and Christian and would just ask for the prayers of her fans and friends. They know she's been sick, but not how sick."
A trial is continuing into who should be in charge of the singer's estate during her time of need, her husband or a conservator, which is the choice of her son, Donto.
