January 2005 will see two enigmatic musicians unite to perform a three week European tour beginning in the UK. Francis Dunnery and David Sancious have careers that twisted and turned along their own idiosyncratic paths, playing with a number of musicians in common (though at different times) yet always remaining true to their musical ideals and quality musicianship. Finally meeting in the 21st century, their resulting concerts performed on the east coast of the USA have proven to be highly unique and emotionally intense experiences to those that have been lucky enough to see them. They are now importing that same musical experience to Europe to coincide with Francis's new album "The Gully Flats Boys" that will be available at the gigs, on the internet and by mail order.
David Sancious first came to the attention of the rock world through his timeless playing on the first three Springsteen albums and has since carved his name through stints with the live bands of Sting, Eric Clapton and Peter Gabriel as well as invaluable contributions to albums by such talents as diverse as Seal, Stanley Clarke, Santana, Aretha Franklin, Bryan Ferry and Youssou N'Dour. Now settled in upstate New York he records, produces and releases his own recordings.
Francis Dunnery was the leader of Cumbrian prog-rock heroes It Bites and since the break up of the band has settled in the USA. Whilst losing nothing of his fretboard prowess, Dunnery's solo albums have matured into a more 'song based' acoustic style. Like David Sancious, he has also shared a stage with Bruce and played on Santana albums as well as lending his talents to Robert Plant, Ian Brown and Lauren Hill.
Joining them on this tour will be Francis's regular vocal foil Dorie Jackson whose voice will need no introduction to those that have seen her and to those that haven't, you're in for a treat.
Whatever you do, don't miss it because you probably wont see anything like this ever again!
