There's no denying that all eyes will be on Frank Ocean . at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Ocean has a total of six nominations under his belt, including Album of the Year for his critically acclaimed Channel Orange.
MTV News caught up with the Odd Future singer/songwriter during the pre-show red carpet live stream, where he discussed his gratitude for the Grammy recognition and his overall success. "I'm not really big on sports references, but I usually say this is, like, the championship for any league," he said of the big evening. "It kind of comes with the territory. I think it's an honor. It's a peer-based system. I owe it to all the people around me."
Ocean also spilled the goods on how far he's come along with the follow-up for Orange, revealing that he's 12 or 13 songs into the project. Asked if the album will be an extension of Orange, the singer explained, "It's a different direction. It always has to be ... If it's not a risk, you shouldn't be taking it."
Even though Ocean knows how prestigious Grammy night is, there was no fretting when it came down to his choice of attire. "I usually pick the night before. I try and keep it very simple," he said of his buttoned-up ensemble.
