Frank Ocean capped off a tremendous 2012 on a decidedly down note ... reportedly racking up a host of misdemeanor infractions, including marijuana possession and driving on a suspended license.
According to the Mono County Sheriff's Office, Ocean was pulled over at approximately 4:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve when an officer observed his black BMW traveling "at a high rate of speed" on US Highway 395 (TMZ says Ocean was driving "roughly" 90 miles per hour in a 65 MPH zone.) When the officer approached the vehicle, a "strong odor of marijuana" was noted, and the BMW was searched.
A small bag of pot was found on Ocean's person, and the Mono County Deputy cited him for possession of marijuana — a misdemeanor in California, punishable by a maximum fine of $100 — and released on the spot. A California Highway Patrol Officer, who was present on the scene at the time, also cited Ocean for driving on a suspended license, and having illegally tinted windows on his vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle then drove Ocean home, since his driver's license was confiscated at the scene of the traffic stop.
According to the Sheriff's office, the incident has been forwarded on to the Mono County District Attorney's Office "for review." A spokesperson for Ocean did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter by press time.
