Shamed pop star Gary Glitter faked a heart attack at Bangkok airport to avoid being deported to the UK.
The convicted paedophile, who had spent the last 3 years in a Vietnamese prison, was released this week and ordered back to England.
As there is no direct flight from Vietnam to the UK, Glitter had a stopover in Bangkok where he refused to reboard the London-bound flight claiming that he was having a heart attack.
The 64-year singer is banned from entering Thailand for his crimes but one English newspaper claimed that he had planned to "disappear" when he reached Bangkok. He is listed as an "undesirable" by the Thai government. As he was refused entry into the country, he had to spend his time during the stopover in a transit lounge.
Glitter "collapsed" at Bangkok airport claiming that he was having heart problems.
There are no charges pending against the singer when he arrives back in the UK and he is free to travel inside the country.
However, community groups are wanting him to be listed as a known sex offender that would restrict his movements in and out of the country.
