Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu to visit UK shores

Australian artist Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, a winner of over 16 major awards (including ARIA's) and platinum sales in Australia, will be performing three initial dates in London and Brighton.

Gurrumul will be backed by Michael Hohnen (producer and collaborator) on Double Bass, Francis Diatschenko on Spanish Guitar and highly regarded ERKKI VELTHEIM STRING QUARTET.

Blind since birth and blessed with a voice with the power to transfix Gurrumul has just completed a tour of highly prestigious key concert venues and festivals in Australia and New Zealand.

His debut solo album "GURRUMUL" was recently released in the UK to positive reviews and is beginning to pick up consistent radio play. Gurrumul sings in Aboriginal languages Galpu, Gumatj, Djambarrpuynu and English. Said to have the voice of an angel and has the ability to synthesize deeply traditional sounds and stories from East Arnhem Land and bring them alive and reach beyond his own culture.
