The 46-year-old singer – who has sold over 100 million records worldwide – gets embarrassed when he sees the outfits and hairstyles he used to have as a younger star when he shot to fame in the 80s.
George – who was joined in Wham! by Andrew Ridgeley - said: "When I see myself. I cringe mostly! Take that blonde hair. I wanted to have long, blonde, straight hair because I didn't really want to be me. So the short, dark, curly hair had to go.
"Looking back, I suppose I could have done without those curtain rings in my ears as well. And the shorts with the shuttlecocks down them too. I mean, how stupid did that look?"
Despite his embarrassment, the 'I'm Your Man' singer can accept his fashion mistakes because he was young and was experimenting with his style.
George – who formed Wham! when he was 18 in 1981 – told Big Issue In Scotland magazine: "Andrew and I were just young guys having fun and that's an age when you're still experimenting with your image, so of course mistakes were made.
"To be honest, I don't think I was ever really confident about the way I looked in those days."
