Gerard Way is set to make the live debut of his solo material at this years Reading and Leeds festivals.
The news came yesterday as the festivals announced 50 news bands would be joining the line up, those with a keen eye would have noticed Way tucked away on the Radio 1 stage. Last time he played the festival they headlined in 2011 and in 2006 they were met with a rain of bottles from the audience.
This time seems like it could be a different story for Way however, with the new material premiered on his website sounding much heavier than before. The song entitled 'Don't Need' is a grinding track full of heavy distortion and crashing drums, which could fit much better with the festivals' ethos.
Speaking of his new material and signing to Warner Brothers, Way wrote: "I am pleased to let you know I am now signed as a solo artist to Warner Bros Records. My album is near completion, and you should expect to hear things in the near future, even today actually - with a brief snippet of what is to come. I am excited. It’s starting again."
