Pregnant Geri Halliwell has asked best friend George Michael to be her birthing partner if the father refuses to be involved.
The former Spice Girl plans to fly to Los Angeles later this week to patch things up with the father, script writer Sacha Gervasi, 39, after weeks of rows.
But if the pair fail to reconcile, Geri reportedly wants singer George to be by her side throughout her labour. A friend of the singer told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Geri has grown very close to George and his partner Kenny Goss and has already spoken to them both about going to pre-birthing classes with her should Sacha be unable to attend.
"Geri will attend one of the best courses in West Hollywood but only time will tell whether Sacha can make it or not.
"He has said he will look after Geri and their baby no matter what, but they have both had such a turbulent time of things and he has been inundated with work.
"Geri has a lot to learn between now and when she gives birth in the spring and George and Kenny will do whatever they can to help."document.write(unescape("
