Lady Gaga has offended a number of people in Japan - being accused of wearing 'racially insensitive clothes' after she confused Korean and Japanese writing.
She posted the above picture on her Instagram, which shows her wandering around her "favourite place", Tokyo. However, it has attracted substantial ire from the Japanese, due to the fact she is wearing Korean, rather than Japanese characters on her colourful onesie. The writing means "colour", which isn't offensive in itself, but many have deemed the post racially insensitive.
As a result, a discussion has opened on 2ch, Japan's largest forum, entitled: "Lady Gaga, Who's Visiting Japan, Is Wandering Around Roppongi in Clothes with Korean Characters. This Proves That From the White Person's Point of View, Japan and Korea are the Same."
The reason this is deemed offensive by the occasionally conservative 2ch audience, is that relations between Korea and Japan have been fraught for a while. For example, Korean TV recently banned a Kpop group from using Japanese. The result in confusing the two, while unintentional, is highly offensive, sort of like calling a New Zealander Australian, but worse.
