Girls Aloud are set to support Coldplay at their Wembley Stadium concert.
The girl band – comprising of Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding – have reportedly been asked to join the British rock outfit on stage in September next year by frontman Chris Martin.
A source said: "Coldplay are huge pop fans. They love Take That and all the mainstream chart stuff.
"Girls Aloud are the ideal support group. They will get the Wembley crowd worked up into a frenzy before the main attraction. Chris Martin is a fan and had them on his wish list from the start of tour plans."
Girls Aloud's slot is expected to be confirmed later this week. Coldplay's three September 2009 tour dates for Manchester, Glasgow and London are currently billed with US rapper Jay-Z as a support act, who created controversy when he headlined the Glastonbury music festival earlier this year.
Further dates are expected to be announced on Friday (05.12.08). Chris recently revealed the band would love to be the opening act for 'Greatest Day' singers Take That.
He wrote on the band's official website: "I would open for Take That. I'd like to use the Coldplay website to announce that if Take That want us to open for them, we'll do it.
"The only problem is that we'll have to get down the gym for a bit!"
