The hit all-female band got their star in front of the punk-rock joint where they made their debut at more than 30 years ago, The Masque.
Accepting the star, Jane Wiedlin said: 'We loved the Hollywood Walk of Fame even then.
'In our wildest dreams, we could never have dreamed our little band would get a star on the Walk of Fame.
'The arc of The Go-Go's story could not be more of a fairy tale. From the humble origins on this spot to the giddy ride to stardom, culminating in a sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl just a few blocks away - and now, 30 years later, to be honoured with a star. Let's just say it's a story that proves truth is really stranger than fiction.''
The ceremony was held in connection with the 30th anniversary of the release of the band's landmark debut album, Beauty and the Beat, and came six days before their concert at the Greek Theatre.
The group was formed in 1978 as a punk band with Belinda Carlisle on vocals, Wiedlin on guitar and vocals, Margot Olavarria on bass and Elissa Bello on drums.
Charlotte Caffey joined the group two months later as the lead guitarist and keyboard player. Gina Schock replaced Bello on drums in the summer of 1979, and the group began moving toward a power pop sound.
