"The Great Gatsby" is a literary classic, but don't expect the upcoming flick to be bogged down with tunes from the Roaring Twenties — especially since producers locked down Jay-Z to help score the highly anticipated movie.
On Thursday (April 4), Interscope Records and Warner Bros. Pictures released the all-star track list for "The Great Gatsby" film soundtrack at the same time that a new trailer for the flick was released with much of the new music in place.
Hov himself will set off the 14-track OST with a brand new track titled "100$ Bill," while his wife Beyoncé teams up with Andre 3000 to bring new life into Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black."
With the film's score Jay-Z, film director Baz Luhrmann and executive music supervisor Anton Monsted aimed to take the jazzy feel from F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel and give it a contemporary twist with key contributions from will.i.am, Florence and the Machine, Lana Del Rey, Gotye, Jack White, Fergie and Q-Tip.
The new, suspense-filled trailer starts off with a sampling of Beyoncé and 3 Stacks' number, then gives us a taste of Lana Del Rey's somber-sounding "Young and Beautiful" as the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan express their love for one another. To close, Florence and the Machine's pounding and pulsating "Over the Love" builds with quick cut scenes of Gatsby's playboy lifestyle quickly unraveling.
The soundtrack will be released on May 7, just three days before the film hits theaters.
