The King's Speech star admits she has no regrets about what she wears, despite landing on the Worst Dressed list several times.
And being criticised for her non-traditional dress sense is not going to stop Helena from dressing up how she wants.
The Oscar nominee said: 'Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I get it wrong.
'But fashion is all about having fun. I think fashion has been hijacked by the fashion industry creating rules on what one should wear and I feel like breaking the mold and seeing that the world won't crumble.'
At this year’s Golden Globe Awards, the star turned a few heads when she showed up wearing a Vivienne Westwood frock and mismatched shoes.
She said: 'Why not wear mismatching shoes? Who says we can't? I was just having fun.
'For me, fashion is all about fantasy and putting unlikely things together. That is what I love. I genuinely love dressing up.'
As for what she'll be wearing at this year's Oscars on February 27, she said: 'Maybe I will wear the exact same dress I wore at the Golden Globes but with matching shoes. Or put the shoes on my head!'
The 44-year-old admits she does admire one person's fashion sense - Lady Gaga.
Carter added to People.com: 'I love the way she dresses. She's like a work of art.
'Anybody who is inventive, different or has fun like her, I love and admire. I'm amazed that she's able to stand up in some of those shoes she wears.'
