Hugh Jackman has admitted that he was very happy to pile on the pounds for Real Steel.
Jackman plays a boxer-turned-trainer in the futuristic tale, which sees robots replace humans in the boxing ring, which meant that The Wolverine star - for once - didn't need to be in good shape for the movie.
He told Men's Health: "I was about 10lb heavier than I normally would be. It was kind of nice to have a beer now and again."
When asked about preparing for his role as Wolverine, Jackman replied: "Every time I do Wolverine, I learn and understand more about my body and what I need. I know now that there's only so much I can take.
"I'll absolutely know my career is over when I go in for a boxing session and get the s**t beaten out of me, and the other guy won't care."
Real Steel is released on October 14.
