The 42-year-old Aussie actor, who has son Oscar, 11, and daughter Ava, six, with wife Deborra-Lee Furness, said that from Monday to Friday their home is a screen-free environment.
'A buddy of mine has a rule that I installed, 'No screens during the week. No TV, or computer, or anything like that',' he told People magazine.
'Kids nowadays have very little time. They seem to be at school longer than ever. They have all sorts of after school activities. By the time you have eaten and showered and dressed, it is over. So there is not much time for it anyway.'
But he admitted that his plan sometimes backfires because of his own love of computer games.
'I love to play Wii Tennis,' he said. 'So I'll say to my son, 'Hey, let's go play on the Wii.' And he goes, 'Dad, it's a beautiful day! Let's go outside!''
