J Mascis & The Fog December UK Tour Including ATP Nightmare Before Christmas and 10 Years of ATP Festivals
J Mascis and The Fog is a project of Dinosaur Jr. front-man J Mascis. Mascis played all the instruments and sang on the first Fog album, "More Light", which was recorded in Mascis' home studio and released on Artemis Records in 2000.
When it was time to tour, he enlisted the help of legendary bassist Mike Watt (fIREHOSE, The Minutemen) and drummer George Berz (Dinosaur Jr.). The trio toured the US, Europe, Japan and Australia, playing a mixture of songs from "More Light," Dinosaur Jr. back catalog, and Black Flag and Stooges covers.
In Europe, they were frequently joined onstage by Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton. A tragic tour van accident cut the group's second European tour short, and Mascis returned to the studio to record the second Fog album, "Free So Free," which was released in 2002 on Ultimatum Records. In 2005, Mascis put The Fog project on hold in order to tend to other business, mainly the reformation of the original Dinosaur Jr. lineup.
Now, with two new Dinosaur Jr. studio albums under his belt, Mascis is ready to get fogged in again. This December, J Mascis & The Fog will tour in the UK, with dates including two ATP festivals. The current lineup consists of bassist Dave Schools (Widespread Panic, Stockholm Syndrome) and Kyle Spence (Harvey Milk, Fiddlehead, The Tom Collins), both of Athens, GA.
