UK singer songwriter Jake Bugg spent time at the iconic Sun Studios in Memphis laying down demos for his new album 'Shangri La'.
Sun Studios was founded in Memphis in 1952 by Sam Phillips and became the first studio home for Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis.
"I also went to Memphis to record at Sun Studios and do some demos, jake tells Noise11.com. "Some nice recordings came out there".
Bugg will follow-up his no. 1 UK self-titled debut with 'Shangri La' in November. He has already debuted the new songs 'Slumville Sunrise', 'Me and You' and 'King Pin' live.
The 'Shangi La' album was produced by Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Johnny Cash) and features members of Chili Peppers, The Mars Volta and Zwan. "Rick's been great. He is a chilled out guy," Jake says. "The players I've been playing with Chad Smith (Chili Peppers), Matt Sweeney (Zwan), Jason Lader (The Mars Volta) are all really cooled players. Everyone's chilled. It's just nice to be back in the studio, especially after doing all these festivals and just be making music again. It is fresh for me and I can listen to it because nobody else has heard it yet".
