Janet Jackson has revealed she secretly married last year.
The 46-year-old singer admitted tying the knot with Qatari billionaire Wissam Al Mana in a "quiet, private and beautiful ceremony."
Janet released the statement to deny reports she and Wissam, 37, had recently married in an over-the-top wedding.
"The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true," the star told Entertainment Tonight. "Last year we were married in a quiet, private and beautiful ceremony.
"Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children's charities."
The Rhythm Nation singer ended her statement with a plea for privacy and for she and her new husband to be "allowed this time for celebration and joy."
Janet met Wassim back in 2009 after giving a special performance in the Middle East.
This is the third marriage for the star who split from her record producer boyfriend Jermaine Dupri in 2009.
She divorced singer husband James DeBarge in 1985 after a year of marriage and was wed to Rene Elizondo from 1991 to 2000.
And Janet is apparently keen to start a family with her new husband.
"She wants kids," the source told Us Weekly. "If she can't have them, she will adopt."
