Janet Jackson reveals hopes of starting family

But the 44-year-old singer and actress, now starring in new Tyler Perry movie For Coloured Girls, told Access Hollywood her fate is in 'God's hands'.

Jackson, whose long-term romance with musician Jermaine Dupri ended earlier this year, says one of her main goals in life is to have children.

'I'd love to have a family,' she reportedly told the entertainment show.

'But really, it's in God's hands. So, if it's meant to be, I'll have one. I hope it does.'

She appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Monday night, looking slim and trim in a chic black trouser suit, paired with sexy Christian Louboutin platform heels.

Jackson was not asked about future family plans, but did confirm that she was not engaged to wealthy Qatar businessman Wissam Al Mana, 35, who she has been dating for four months.

'There's always some rumour that's been made up about me and my family. I think the latest one was that I'm engaged,' she said.

She shook her head when Leno asked, 'And you're not?'
