Jamiroquai front man, Jay Kay, has decided to call a halt to his music career and devote time to his search for domestic happiness. He recently parted company with record label SonyBMG claiming to have been less than happy with the way his promotional schedule was being handled.

He said, ""I've had some ups and downs but in the end the downs were just too many. When we talked about me leaving, I jumped at the chance. I'm bored. I don't want to go back on the road. We all need a rest to be honest. I don't need the money or a deal.

"One minute I would be promoting a single with one team and the next they brought different people in and expected me to go along with it. There was no way in hell I was doing that. I'm just tired of the format and wanted to call it a day with them."

Kay and the band have had tremendous success over the last 14 or so years selling 27 million albums, seven album releases and an eighth planned for release later in the year. He has been heard declaring his desire to find a wife and settle down to family life, and that appears to be his main priority. With his precocious talents, its unlikely to be the last the fans will hear from the Ealing funkster, but no doubt he needs to recharge the batteries, and away from the pop promotional merry-go round.
