Jay-Z and Kanye West 'blessed' rising record producer Lex Luger by asking him to work on their collaborative record Watch the Throne.
The rap superstars will unveil their hotly anticipated record on August 8, and enlisted some of the best producers around when it came to working on it, including Swizz Beatz, The Neptunes, RZA and Pete Rock.
However, the music moguls were also eager to champion new talent, and invited 20-year-old US hip-hop producer Lex to contribute.
"They reached out to me for the See Me Now record; I co-produced that with Kanye," he explained to MTV about a track on Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.
"So after that he wanted some more material, I flew to New York, and we were just vibing for a little while. He picked, like, two or three tracks, but he really liked that H.A.M. track. It's a blessing."
H.A.M. was the first leaked song from Watch the Throne, and is due to appear as a bonus track on a deluxe version of the record, as will Illest Motherf**ker Alive, which was produced by Lex's pal Southside. Southside was thrilled to work with the rap icons, and is looking forward to future collaborations.
"It was on some straight trap music as they call it. Like, I couldn't believe that they did that beat," he gushed.
"Working with them, that was crazy. That's a moment I'll never forget. I hope I get a lot more of those moments."
