Jay-Z 'touched by real-life Magna Carta'

Jay-Z was "genuinely touched" to see his record in the same room as the real Magna Carta.

The hip-hop mogul released his 12th studio album Magna Carta Holy Grail on July 4.

Last weekend Jay-Z visited Salisbury Cathedral in England to see the legal manifesto in person. The Magna Carta was created in the year 1215 by subjects of the King of England who demanded a limit to the power of monarchy in order to protect the rights of citizens. The document is credited to be the foundation of constitutional law in English-speaking countries.

Apparently Jay-Z arrived just after the cathedral's morning service on Sunday and walked around the historic church with the Dean of Salisbury for over an hour.

The star was supposedly speechless when he saw the artwork of his album housed in the same room as the Magna Carta.

"Jay was genuinely touched to see his album near to the real-life Magna Carta in the chapter house," a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"He took the occasion seriously and felt honoured to be there. He chatted to the Dean and posed for a few pictures with fans when they asked."

Jay-Z didn't bring a large entourage with him.

The superstar musician reportedly desired to keep a low profile throughout.

"Jay-Z kept the visit quiet because he didn't want it to become a big publicity stunt," the insider said.

"He travelled down from London in a small group in his classic Aston Martin."

The Very Reverend June Osborne, dean of Salisbury Cathedral was impressed with Jay-Z.

He loves the rapper and appreciates the wonderful conversation they shared.

"He was clearly moved by seeing the original Magna Carta," the clergyman said.

"He was a delightful guest and we discussed the work we seek to do here to further the cause of social justice. I think it may have surprised some of our visitors."
