Jerry Seinfeld To Debut New Web Series

Jerry Seinfeld is back ... and coming to a computer screen near you! The famed funnyman dropped a teaser for his first comedy Web series, "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," debuting on July 19.

The seemingly low-budget series is pretty self-explanatory: Seinfeld and various other comedians in a car, driving around, shooting the "ish" and/or sitting in awkward silence. Comedy gold, right?

Ricky Gervais, Alec Baldwin, Michael Richards and Larry David are just a few of Seinfeld's comedian friends that appear on the interview-based show, presented by Crackle, a digital subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Seinfeld has stayed relatively low-key since the end of his hit title series in 1998; he had a brief stint on "Curb Your Enthusiam" and voiced two animated characters in "Dilbert" and "Bee Movie."

He won't be the first comedian to venture into the murky digital waters. Some of his predecessors have emerged as true champions, like Lisa Kudrow with "Web Therapy," Amy Poehler with "Smart Girls at the Party" and of course Zach Galifianakis' "Between Two Ferns."

Seinfeld once told the Wall Street Journal that "creative people are always looking for creative freedom. That's the big thing that the Internet is providing right now."

His quiet teaser does not reveal much, but Seinfeld's track record with shows about nothing has been quite spectacular.
