Jessie J worried about wannabes

Jessie J knows there are wannabe singers ready to take her pop crown.

The British star has been wowing music lovers since her debut single Do It Like a Dude was released in 2010, but admits she often worries her place in the charts is at risk due to younger stars.

In the past year she's been working hard to dominate the American charts too, and her catchy song Bang Bang, featuring Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, cemented her star status across the pond.

"It's not a conscious push [to break America]. No, it is a conscious push," she backtracked to the UK edition of Glamour magazine.

"It's working. Otherwise it's like half making a wedding cake and it being so sick, and then just leaving it. Finish it. It feels like it's now or never because there are young girls coming up behind me, going, 'I'm coming to take your place.'"

As well as her career going from strength to strength, Jessie riding high with her love life, and is smitten with new beau Luke James.

Despite her outwardly confident nature, Jessie confesses she's not immune to bouts of insecurity. However, as a successful artist, the 26-year-old says it's her job to push these to one side.

"I don't like it when artists make me feel uncomfortable to watch them. On The Voice [UK TV show], however much you're nervous and you don't feel sexy and your outfit's not gone right, or you don't feel great that day, the audience don't give a sh*t. If I'm spending my money on voting for you, I want it to be great.

"I've just realised that confidence is something that people expect - it's easier to do it than not," she mused.
