Joan Rivers says performing comedy is like a “drug” to her.
The 77-year-old is one of the most respected women in comedy, and has enjoyed a hugely successful career spanning five decades.
As well as starring in reality show Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? alongside her 42-year-old daughter Melissa and promoting her documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, the talented comedienne is also currently writing a play with one of her pals.
Despite such a heavy workload, Joan insists she wouldn’t change things for the world and she has no plans to slow down.
“I will work as hard as I do because I love it,” she told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.
“It’s my drug. It feeds me. If you love what you’re doing why in God’s name would you give it up?”
Joan also still enjoys her role as a co-host on American television show Fashion Police, where she and Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos comment on the clothes celebrities have been wearing.
The comic claims she never understands when people get offended by what she says, as she thinks there’s nothing wrong with telling the truth.
“You call it shocking. I call it the truth and I just think you have to face the truth. Just say it and get it out of the way, and stop sugar coating it,” she explained.
