JOHN MAYER is to donate thousands of dollars to charity after losing a bet.
The musician will hand over $25,000 (£16,700) after betting a website editor he couldn't find a police's mugshot of him.
Mayer bet site editor Harvey Levin that he wouldn't be able to track down the shot taken following his arrest in 2001 for driving with a suspended license.
He offered to donate the sum to a charity of Levin's choice - and will have to dig deep after resourceful journalists tracked down the incriminating snap.
Mayer's money will go to an animal charity.
