John Mellencamp has officially divorced his estranged wife Elaine Irwin Mellencamp.
The 'Under the Boardwalk' singer - who is believed to have been dating actress Meg Ryan since the couple split - filed for divorce on January 14 after an 18-year marriage to the model, who is set to share joint legal custody of their sons, Hud, 17, and 16-year-old Speck.
According to the settlement agreement, the couple negotiated "an amicable settlement of all issues involving property and maintenance rights, the custody and support of their children, and all other issues".
The 59-year-old rocker - who was previously known by the stage name Johnny Cougar - said in court papers that the pair's nuptials were "irretrievably broken".
John - who has three daughters from two previous marriages, Michelle with his first wife Priscilla Esterline, as well as Teddi Jo and Justice from his second marriage to Victoria Granucci - is set to pay child support for Hud and Speck's schooling.
Due to the couple previously residing in Indiana, which is a "no-fault" state, they are allowed to divorce for almost any reason.
