Hud and Speck Mellencamp, the sons of rocker John Mellencamp, have been arrested on charges of felony battery after a July incident at a home in Bloomington, IN.
The two brothers and a friend, Ty Smith who is the son of Indiana University basketball coach Tracy Smith, allegedly went to the home of 19-year-old Alexander Bucey after Speck though that Smith had hit him earlier in the evening. An affidavit filed with the Bloomington police state that Speck, 18, first punched Bucey followed by Hud and Smith, both 19, saying that they "punched, kicked and stomped" the victim. It is also stated that Speck pushed Bucey off his front porch and continued to beat him until the three men fled the scene.
The affidavit also stated that Bucey was hospitalized with facial fractures and lacerations and has been referred to a plastic surgeon.
Smith surrendered to police on Thursday night and was released on a $500 bond. Speck Mellencamp turned himself in on Friday morning and was released on $5,000 bond. Hud, who is a three-times Indiana Golden Gloves boxing champion, is yet to surrender to police.
