Justin Bieber to press on with Orlando show despite security concerns

Justin Bieber has assured Florida fans he won't be cancelling his Orlando concert following last weekend's (12Jun16) nightclub massacre.

The Baby singer is scheduled to perform live in the city later this month (30Jun16), and he insists the show must go on despite renewed security fears following a tragic weekend there.

Just a day after singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed by a deranged fan at a post-gig meet-and-greet in the city, 49 people lost their lives when a gunman opened fire inside the Pulse nightclub.

Bieber broke down onstage in Winnipeg, Canada as he dedicated his song Purpose to Grimmie on Monday night (13Jun16), and on Thursday (16Jun16) he made it clear the LGBT community in the city is in his thoughts too.

In a simple tweet he wrote: "For all those asking no I won't cancel the Orlando show. I stand with Orlando in support. Love you Orlando! #OrlandoStrong."

Bieber isn't the only pop star dealing with security concerns right now, as his peer Nick Jonas, who is currently on tour with singer Demi Lovato, has also addressed matters of safety at concerts in the wake of the Orlando tragedies.

Speaking on U.S. radio programme Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on Monday about venue security, Nick noted: "It's something that needs to be addressed across the board and it's not just specifically in meet and greets, because obviously the horrible tragedy in Orlando the next day ... I think it's just an issue we need to sort out as a country and get right. With music venues, I think there are some protocols that can be taken to make it safer, not only for the artists but for the fans. We all need live music, we need to be able to feel safe to go to a show and enjoy a concert. We can't let people win that are out there just to make people's lives horrible."
