It seems as though a potential musical power couple was not meant to be: Pop princess Katy Perry and singer/songwriter John Mayer have ended their brief romance. According to Us Weekly, the two lovebirds have called it quits after just a couple of months of casual dating.
"She's really upset about it," one insider told the magazine.
Another source close to the couple revealed to Us that Perry is putting on a brave face since their time together was so short but that she's more upset than she's letting on. "She is making it seem like it wasn't serious with John, but she is hurt," the source said.
The "Wide Awake" singer was first spotted with Mayer back in June when the two made an "affectionate" appearance together at the SoHo House in West Hollywood, California. They were later spotted leaving famed celeb hotspot the Chateau Marmont where they were photographed for the first time together. Those who witnessed the two together claimed Perry and Mayer did not try to hide their friendly feelings and were not shy about holding hands and kissing.
Neither Perry nor Mayer's representatives have commented on the budding romance or its dissolution. Both stars have experienced dating in the very public eye. Perry's highly publicized divorce from Russell Brand was finalized last month, and she briefly dated Florence and the Machine rocker Robert Ackroyd last spring. Mayer has been romantically linked to a slew of starlets, including Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
