Katy Perry and Rihanna reunited to enjoy a night out in New York City on Monday.
The popstars haven't been seen together in public since the 2012 MTV Music Awards, and there was speculation they had drifted apart. However, the singers put paid to any rumours by stepping out for dinner in New York City's West Village last night.
Rihanna clearly wanted her fans to know her friendship with Katy is still intact as she posted a picture of her cuddling up to her pal on Instagram. In the black and white snap, Katy wears an animal print jumper and is beaming while Rihanna looks comfortable in a black sweatshirt as she pouts for the camera.
"She. X She. #Katy #RIHunited," she wrote in the caption to accompany the image.
It was widely reported that Katy was unhappy with Rihanna's decision to rekindle her romance with Chris Brown - who assaulted the Barbadian star in 2009 - earlier this year. There were claims that tensions were so strained between the singers that Katy asked to be seated away from Rihanna and Chris at the Grammy Awards in February.
However, in a magazine interview published last month, Katy insisted they were still very close.
"I love her and every time I see her, I'm reminded of the light that she has," she explained.
"There's a lot of dark in this business. I know a lot of people out there with the most detrimental entourages - they are the root of their demise."
It seemed Katy was in need of a break from her hectic work schedule and was looking forward to relaxing with her friend yesterday.
"Having a much deserved cheers after a long day. I'm lifting my glass to ALL of you, couldn't have done it without you. CHEERS TO YOU #ROAR (sic)," she wrote on her Twitter page.
Katy has had a stressful time in the past few days after her hotly-anticipated new single Roar was leaked. She was forced to scrap plans to unveil the track at New York radio station Z100 on Sunday and announced the song would be available to download at iTunes.
