Katy Perry thinks Beyoncé Knowles is "bionic".
The Roar singer has scored several number ones since bursting onto the scene with hit I Kissed a Girl in 2008. Despite counting as one of the biggest stars in the world, the 29-year-old isn't comfortable with being given the pop queen crown.
"It kind of embarrasses me because I don't feel that way. I have pinch-me moments, sure, but Beyoncé is the biggest pop star in the world so don't be blasphemous," she corrected Time Out London magazine.
"I hope [I'm an empathetic pop star]. I work really hard; I work myself into this state. But Beyoncé's an icon and bionic, almost. I bet she doesn't get sick ever!"
Katy is known for being open with her fans and has discussed her divorce from Russell Brand in previous interviews. She thinks laying her cards on the table is important for her career.
"My relatability, I think," she answered when asked about her strengths as a pop star. "That and my openness to vulnerability. And just the general good-time fun. And, possibly - not to keep going on - the kind of inspirational zest you can get from the songs."
Katy likes to relate to her fans by spending time in the cities she performs in. She adds that if she skips this, she feels "fraudulent" when she gets on stage.
The Prismatic World Tour is currently in England, London, and the singer is keen to hit the city's Natural History Museum.
"I'm so thirsty - in all the best ways and uses of that word - for information at all times," she explained. "I wasn't privy to a great educational system growing up, so I'm just absorbing everything. I'm such an experience junkie. Like at the end of my life I just want to say that I lived and I did all of it."
