Katy Perry was considering eloping with John Mayer at one point, her friend has claimed.
The two singers began dating late in 2012, but their relationship was on and off for the next few years. It was regularly claimed that John's disinterest in making things official was the problem, something Katy's friend Robert Tencer has backed up.
"None of us are surprised to see things with Katy and John finally fizzle out," he told Britain's Heat magazine. "It's mad, but a year ago she was talking about eloping with him, but he just never committed fully and would never support her. She'd have to go to events on her own. John was like a ghost in her life."
The star has now moved on with Orlando Bloom. Although they haven't publicly confirmed their relationship, the new couple have been spotted out together on several occasions and Katy is apparently enjoying being open about her love life.
It's even been claimed that the 31-year-old singer has met the actor's five-year-old son Flynn, something Robert - who's known Katy for many years - loves.
"Katy would make a great mom and has always connected with kids," he enthused. "She has always talked about wanting marriage and babies. Anyone who thinks it's too soon for her to meet Orlando's kid is wrong. Orlando ticks a lot of boxes for Katy - she loves those dark , brooding looks, he's talented and he treats her like a lady. Katy loved British guys."
The feeling seems to be mutual, with a pal of Orlando's suggesting Katy is pretty much his perfect woman.
"Katy's everything Orlando likes - smart, talented and gorgeous," the insider said. "Everyone thought this might be just another of his conquests, but introducing Flynn to Katy was a big step, and none of us are in any doubt he's really serious about her."
