KATY PERRY has spoken out in defence of Leona Lewis and said she should have won more Grammy nominations.
The I Kissed A Girl star said Lewis, 23, should have got more nominations for her international hit, Bleeding Love.
Speaking to DJ Ryan Seacrest the day after the nominations were announced, she said: "I felt like Leona Lewis got robbed, honestly. Because she didn't get Best New Artist nomination."
Perry, 24, who, along with Lewis is up for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the prestigious ceremony, said she was on stage in California when she got the news.
She said: "I was in Sacramento. I was on stage. My sister told me. It's the Grammys. "It's kind of like this super high-class club that they gave me a ticket into."
But she said after hearing the news, she left her phone in a car and is eager to get it back to listen to her messages.
She said: "I'm excited to get my phone today because it's going to be like Christmas."
