Well, there's at least one person who won't be watching Russell Brand's new FX talk show. That person is the Katy Perry fan who vandalized a billboard featuring the comedian's new show in Los Angeles.
The advertisement for the show, which kicks off Thursday (June 28) on the cable network, is on Sunset Boulevard. The show is tagged "Late Night ReBranded," and the overzealous KatyCat added this message: "I would rather watch the Katy Perry movie." TMZ was first to post a photo of the newly redesigned billboard.
"I am so excited I'm on the point of climax, in fact I will put the 'O' into FX, which spells Fox, which is actually the channel's real name," Brand said in a statement back in December, when the show was first announced. "That's the only thing that worries me about all this to be honest. At least I'll be able to have a Christmas drink with Bill O'Reilly."
The show hits small screens one week before Katy drops her 3-D movie spectacle, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," which touches on her divorce from Brand in great detail.
At the junket for the July 5 movie release, Perry opened up about why she wanted to include her split in the film. "The truth will always prevail," she said. "Everything has to be handled with integrity and appropriately, and it's not nice to air all your dirty laundry, because that stinks, so I had to be very delicate with the situation, but I couldn't avoid the elephant in the room," she explained. "If you were to have seen that movie and walked out and [my breakup] wasn't at all mentioned like it never happened, you'd be like, 'Eh, this is weird, what is she trying to hide?' I don't like to hide."
