Katy Perry has slammed a politician's opposition to gay marriage.
The 28-year-old singer gave her opinion on Tony Abbott's anti-gay marriage views during an interview with Australian radio presenters Kyle and Jackie O.
During a segment where famous Australians phoned in to talk to the Teenage Dream singer, Katy questioned the conservative's stance on the issue.
"Oh come on, that's not a political question, let's talk about gay marriage," Katy said.
"I like you as a human being but I just don't believe in your policies. I can't give you my vote, that's what a lot of people should be doing."
British-born Tony tried to mend his relationship with Katy by saying her Hot N Cold track would make a good anthem for his party. Katy retaliated by saying her song, which contains lyrics 'you change your mind like a girl changes clothes', would not suit him at all.
"I don't know if that's the best song we can pick for a politician," she stated.
Remaining on serious subjects, Katy weighed in on social networking. She says fans should respect all artists not just the ones they follow.
"It's not about the drama it's about the music. I encourage all fan groups to have their own particular artist they look to," she finished.
