Katy Perry wasn't allowed to read or watch Harry Potter growing up, as it was too "enchanting".
The 31-year-old pop star has created her own exciting universe thanks to her catchy songs and love of bold, quirky looks.
Growing up in a strict, religious household with pastors for parents meant Katy missed out on J.K. Rowling's magical tales, so she finds it ironic her new perfume is named Mad Potion.
"I know Harry Potter, but I've never read the books, nor have I seen the movies because growing up, I was not allowed to read the books," she told People magazine.
"Growing up, I wasn't allowed to have any fantastical, enchanting stuff around me. It's funny that now I'm doing a little bit of a magic-potion-themed perfume."
The publication then quizzed her on what she would do if given a magic wand. Being the kind soul she is, Katy insisted she'd only use her spells in a positive way.
"Well, only use your powers for good," she explained of her dream charm. "But I think there would be a lot more acceptance, compassion, and empathy if I could (practise magic). Because the world is going through a lot of stuff right now."
Katy's career began in gospel singing, before her edgy and unique sound gained her recognition in the industry. She may not identify as a Christian like her mother and father anymore, but Katy has previously insisted she still feels the presence of a greater being.
"I still feel like I have a deep connection with God. I pray all the time," she told Marie Claire magazine, "for self-control, for humility. There's a lot of gratitude in it. Just saying 'thank you' sometimes is better than asking for things."
