Katy Perry insists she naturally sounds like a Smurf.
The American songstress voices the character of Smurfette in upcoming comedy The Smurfs.
The animated picture tells the story of evil wizard Gargamel who chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, where they tumble from their magical world and into the human realm.
Katy says lending her voice to the part was an easy transition, because she already sounds like a blue-skinned Smurf.
"Smurfette is basically my voice but kind of like when I've had too many cups of coffee all in one day," she is quoted as saying. "It's not far from the real me really."
Known for their blue skin, white hats and mushroom houses, the Smurfs were the stars of a popular 1980s TV series.
The film adaptation is due for release later this summer and stars Sofía Vergara, Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Anton Yelchin, Hank Azaria and Alan Cumming.
