For its ninth installment, VH1 Divas is paying tribute to America's troops stationed around the world and their families. and families across the world. produced in partnership with the USO, airs on December 5 and will showcase performances by Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson, Sugarland and Paramore.
Perry, Minaj, Hilson and Sugarland will perform at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, while Paramore will perform and visit with military members at an undisclosed base in the Middle East.
Hilson to take part in the event, which has paid tribute to the likes of Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin. "I get to be among so many other influential women, groundbreaking women, strong, powerful, confident women, not only on that day, but just to be a part of the legacy of 'VH1 Divas,' " she said.
Sugarland frontwoman Jennifer Nettles shared similar sentiments, saying, "All of these women definitely have a larger than life persona, be it on stage or who they are or what they wear," adding, "I think there's something to be said for celebrating that."
In addition to the performances, the show will include commentary from the troops who are stationed at the front lines. More featured artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
VH1 Divas premiered in 1998 and has saluted a slew of legendary female singers including Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. In 2009, the event returned after a five-year hiatus with a lineup that included Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus.
"2010 VH1 Divas: Salute The Troops" will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT on December 5 on VH1.
