In her new video for "Last Friday Night (TGIF)," Katy Perry is having a full-on John Hughes moment.
In addition to the video's glorious '80s teen flick feeling, "Last Friday Night" features an onslaught of truly random cameos. Those celebs included: recent butt-of-the-joke Rebecca Black (of "Friday" viral fame), Darren Criss (Blaine) and Kevin McHale (Artie) from "Glee," Hanson, Kenny G (as "Uncle Kenny," who isn't allowed to play sax anymore), Debbie Gibson and Corey Feldman (as Perry's parents).
Watch the extended video, which features Perry's brace-faced nerd-turned-hottie character, Kathy Beth Terry (age 13).
The humorous clip packs numerous tried-and-true story arcs of teen movies in a mere eight minutes, from a geek-to-chic makeover (just remove those big glasses, and voila!), to a teenaged rager while parents are away, and plenty of unrequited longing. Meanwhile, after several months of vicious internet bullying, Katy Perry gives Rebecca Black her chance to play "the cool girl." Black not only throws quite the Friday night rager, but in one of the video's stranger moments, she waxes Katy Perry's nonexistent mustache.
Even before the "Last Friday Night" video's premiere, Perry has been taking her Kathy Beth Terry alter-ego to the next level, launching Facebook and Twitter pages for the fictional eighth grader.
