Kay Perry has spoken of plans to record a country and western album and spoken of her confidence in ditching her traditional pop sound.
The singer revealed her love for country legend Patty Griffin and says that listening to the squeaky clean star has inspired her to switch the exploding breasts and candyfloss bikinis that made her 'American Dream' album campaign so popular.
"I’ve always wanted to make something like an acoustic record," she says. "My favourite record is Patty Griffin’s Flaming Red. I discovered it when I was in Nashville.
"I definitely want to do a Patty Griffin-esque thing at some point. It’s something that I’m really excited about because I know I can do it and I haven’t really played that card yet."
Katy Perry previously revealed that she planned a 'real f***ing dark' album following her split from Russell Brand, but it appears her new romance with Florence + The Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd has softened the star and her plans for the future.
