Katy Perry is reportedly seeking the assistance of a "heartbreak coach".
The popstar split with musician John Mayer last month following an on/off relationship.
It had previously been reported that although Katy was sad to part ways with the singer, she is keen to move on.
Sources have now come forward to reveal that the Teenage Dream songstress is seeking professional assistance to help her come to terms with the split.
This follows Katy allegedly realising that she still has unresolved issues surrounding the demise of her marriage to British comedian Russell Brand.
"It seems breaking up with John has made Katy realise that she's still harbouring a lot of grief about Russell that she never properly dealt with at the time," a source told British magazine Grazia. "She feels seeing a heartbreak coach is the only way to resolve this."
Aurora Winter is an expert who has been coaching people in Los Angeles through heartbreak for 20 years.
It is thought Katy has been following a programme similar to the one offered by Aurora since ending her romance with John last month.
"A broken heart is like a broken arm. When you break your arm, you see a doctor right away. I take them through whatever painful experiences they had and encourage them to stop holding on to them," Aurora explained. "Celebrities are normal people and they suffer exactly the same as everyone else suffering heartbreak - sometimes more so as it's often very public."
Meanwhile, Katy put an end to rumours she has distanced herself from Rihanna after the popstars engaged in some Twitter banter on Wednesday.
Reports suggested Rihanna's reunion with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown led to her fall-out with Katy, but the two beauties put the speculation behind them by exchanging messages following Rihanna's recent trip to a Miami strip club.
Katy took to Twitter to write: "Ermm…I was in LA Saturday night…Should I be proud or offended I wasn't invited @rihanna #WHOISTHISDOPPLEGANGER (sic)," before Rihanna swiftly replied: "@katyperry errm I wasn't! Lol! #miaminights howeverrrrr....I'll still let you spank me! (sic)."
The flirty exchange then led to Katy suggesting a date for the pair to meet.
"Don't worry @rihanna I'll make it up to you at Barclays...Or more like let you make it up to me... Hehehe @rihanna (sic)."
A source revealed earlier this year that tensions were high between Katy and Rihanna, with one report suggesting Katy asked to be seated away from Rihanna and Chris at February's Grammy Awards.
