Katy Perry has launched an attack against the tabloid press following comments she made about product placement in music videos.
Last week, Perry tweeted that product placement should be done with “style & grace” and “not so in ur face like some”.
Many media outlets suggested Perry was commenting on the video for Britney Spears new single 'Hold It Against Me', which reportedly features $500,000 of product placement.
But responding to the reports, the singer called the tabloid media “filth” and insisted she was just expressing an “overall feeling”.
“Most, if not ALL popsters welcome deals w/products 2 offset costs of big budget vids in these recessional music industry times,” she wrote.
“I'VE used them in MY vids before & am happy 2b able 2 make a better vid because of.”
She added: “Once AGAIN, stop pitting artists against artist for ur sensational satisfaction & stick to what ur best @: lying, gossiping, exaggerating & overall lending a hand 2 the deterioration of a generation.”
Perry is currently on the European leg of her California Dreams world tour, which arrives in the UK and Ireland next month. For more details, check out Gigwise Gig Tickets.
