The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards proved that when celebs go continental, they certainly turn up the fashion lights. And with everyone from Ke$ha to Rihanna to Katy Perry showing off their unique personal tastes on the carpet, the EMA purple carpet at the Caja Magica in Madrid was a circus of style.
Making their first public appearance as a married couple, Katy Perry dazzled in a very mini red-sequined dress with a ticket design that read "Admit One" that she paired with bright blue platform heels, while Russell Brand went super-glam in a tuxedo, undone in that very Russell way. "It just feels lovely," she said when asked how it felt to walk down the carpet married in her Jeremy Scott dress.
Snooki was there upping her style ante in a red-and-black sequined bodice with a feathered miniskirt designed by Sherri Hill, which she explained was an homage to her Spanish heritage and the city of Madrid. Pauly D was by her side and he kept it relaxed in a button-down shirt.
Eva Longoria did not look like a desperate housewife in a black, poofy-sleeved sequined satin dress with a touch of sexiness thanks to a very short hemline and see-through detailing. Fellow Latina Shakira sparkled in a gold-tinged mini with a neckline cut low enough to keep the boys' tongues wagging.
Miley Cyrus went pilgrim chic in a white, high-cut dress adorned by a Western cowgirl bow. And Paramore leading lady Hayley Williams decided that the only kind of dress to wear with hot pink hair is a modest, gothic-detailed, black gown. The usually colorful Rihanna was more ethereal in a white, one-shoulder Ellie Saab dress.
Ke$ha and Taylor Momsen brought a little West Hollywood glam to the carpet. Ke$ha hit the purple carpet in matching purple satin bell-bottoms that she paired with a ripped-up T-shirt and wild hair straight out of 1982. Meanwhile, Momsen turned up her signature zombie makeup a few notches and paired it with a lacy bra, black men's-cut shirt and thigh-high McQueen boots.
Kings of Leon, Slash and Bon Jovi were characteristically rocker chic all the way, wearing lots of denim and leather. Justin Bieber may not have been at the show in person but he was beamed in as the night's digital host, where he rocked a black leather jacket and black T-shirt.
The 2010 EMAs air on MTV2 on Sunday (November 7) at 9 p.m. ET, and an edited, performance-heavy version will be broadcast Friday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
