(Cover) - EN Movies - Katy Perry beat Debi Mazar to an upcoming film role.
The pop star is set to appear in an unknown flick instead of the Empire Records and Entourage actress.
Debi shared her shock at the 28-year-old musician's triumph via Twitter after hearing the news.
"I just found out that I lost a film role to… @KatyPerry. I have no words," she posted.
The 48-year-old explained that age may have had nothing to do with it due to the nature of the part.
Apparently Katy will portray the boss of an escort service.
"I wish @katyperry all the best," she added. "The role was an edgy woman who ran an escort service. It rlly could b anyone..I'm 20 years older!diff way 2 go."
Katy isn't completely unknown to the movie world as she is the voice of Smurfette in Smurfs and Smurfs 2. Her biopic Part of Me was released last year.
The performer has been working on her fourth record, the first since 2010's Teenage Dream.
Apparently Katy has taken a new approach and her sound is more mature now.
Debi plays Dolly Sharp in Lovelace which is out in August.
Next year she stars as Gloria Swanson in Return To Babylon.
