Katy Perry is reportedly urging her parents to accept her for who she is.
The popstar had a strict Christian upbringing with her mother and father both devout pastors.
Her parents have been touring US churches as guest speakers, where it's rumoured her dad even referred to Katy as a "devil child" and asked the congregation to pray for her.
The brunette singer is known for raunchy songs and revealing outfits but is hopeful her conservative parents will see past her image.
"Their relationship has been frayed, but lately it's reached a point where Katy feels like it's make or break," a source revealed to British magazine Star.
"Yes, she's a singer and some of her lifestyle choices may clash with her strict upbringing. But she needs her parents to know that she's not a 'devil child' and that she is a good person."
Katy's parents, Mary and Keith, have spoken in the past about their relief when she divorced Russell Brand.
The religious couple apparently told churchgoers they were pleased with the publicity it had created and the way it encouraged people to attend sermons.
According to the UK magazine, Katy is keen for her parents to stop using her name to promote their faith.
Katy recently revealed she has detached herself from her family's beliefs.
"We coexist," she said. "I don't try to change them anymore, and I don't think they try to change me. We agree to disagree."
