Kevin Jonas is happy he and his brothers are a family now, not a band.
The 27-year-old star and his siblings Nick and Joe used to be known as pop group the Jonas Brothers, but they called it quits in October 2013 after eight years performing together. Each of them have been vocal about why they split and Kevin feels a lot closer to the guys now they don't have their careers entwined anymore.
"Yeah, no we are [still close]," he said during an interview with HuffPost Live. "I think that that's why we're close now, is because we're not in the band. By not being in the band together, that constant, like, butting of heads of working together and being family... We chose to be a family, not a band."
The trio not only won over fans with their music but also had a show on the Disney Channel. While they dreamed of being successful from a young age, Kevin admits he never expected them to find the fame they did.
"Not at all; obviously you hope for something like that but even what you hope for, I don't think equalled to what we were able to be blessed with," he added. "We were really lucky. Being a band that was able to tour around the world, travel, make music that we love - was our music - and then be received well I think was great. You know, being able to play shows and travel together was great, but then once at the end there, the friction was too much and we just really needed to break away and kind of do our own things for some time."
Nick has since paved a solo career, releasing his debut self-titled album last year. He's also been snapped pulling rather raunchy poses as of late, many of which see him grabbing his crotch.
When questioned on his brother's photos appealing to his gay following, as well as Nick's venturing to gay bars in New York, Kevin was quick to respond.
"So women don't like that either?" Kevin deadpanned. "He went to a bunch of gay bars with friends I think that he goes and hangs out with, you know."
